Santorini is famous throughout the world for its stunning beauty and is the ultimate location for romantic holidays and honeymoons. If peace and quiet is important, May, June and September are the times when the island is quiet and in the high season the main towns and villages become busy, bustling places, although quieter spots can still be found.
Fira is the main town and is attractive and lively. Perfect for those seeking good shops and in peak season offers fun nightlife with some great bars and a few clubs. Firostefani is nearby and a bit more laid back, but still with lots to offer.
Then there is Oia, an older, more traditional village that is quieter and absolutely beautiful. It is full of charm with gorgeous cobbled lanes with art galleries, taverns and boutiques. This is the best place on the island to witness the famous Santorini sunset, go early to get a good seat at one of the numerous cliff-side cafes.
Vourvoulous is a little way inland. It is a traditional village where time stands still and you are still likely to meet donkeys in the streets. It is extremely peaceful, even in peak season and looks over the pretty scenery of the other, gentler side of the island.
In these wonderful villages we have some lovely apartments and villas of the highest quality. There is a most enjoyable boat trip over to the islet of Thirassia, which split from Santorini during the volcanic explosion.
The views are equally impressive as those on the main island, and it is a lovely peaceful place - in fact it is the quietest island in the Cyclades.
